This is excellent if you run a busniess. I agree with that. But if you’re doing this for fun like I do, I run an art and tale page that I don’t make money off then you want to get the best for the least money.

      Heidi,

You are right about testing different domain names. In fact, it is a excellent thought to register many, and use domain name forwarding to point to your site.

In the article accompanying this video, I wrote why getting a specific domain was so vital to this project. That’s why I wasn’t miserable to pay $50 to get it.

But without testing how would you know? Suppose you bought one of the higher priced domains and a regular $15 registration domain and the cheaper one performed better? It really is a toss up isn’t it?

I once had a domain that I didn’t reckon that was that fantastic but was only $15 to get. Turns out it had brilliant search engine ranking in google without me even trying.

I respect your choice but I am just voicing my own opinion. Sometimes it is better to reckon variations first.

      Heidi,

Paying $49 or $59 to get the best domain name for a project is not too high a price.

But settling for the incorrect domain name, or one that causes lost sales or low search engine ranking, just to save $40 is too high a price for me.

If the incorrect domain name costs me just one sale, the loss will be greater than paying $50 for the righ domain name.

And if the right domain name pulls in an extra 500 sales a year, any price could be a bargain – depending on what you are selling.

You may get a super domain but at too high a price. I dislike sites like this and others that snatch up domains to turn a profit. I will stick with getting less than perfect domains or thinking up something equally perfect on my own and just paying the $15 yearly registration.
